Zatz acknowledges that these patients are not at risk. It's not as if these are patients who are at risk for any significant harm. In most cases, a clot will not rupture or block a blood supply to the brain, but it can be a serious obstacle to a good outcome. Stroke patients can survive up to five days in the intensive care unit. The mortality rate for these patients is higher than 30 percent.
The long-term consequences of stroke are many, which are discussed later. There are two common types of severe strokes, hemorrhagic and non-hemoratic. Hemoragic strokes are generally life-threatening, as the cerebral blood vessels are often severely compromised. Hemoratic strokes are a lesser threat, as they do not result in severe damage. There are different types of stroke, and different types of treatment is available. The most common types for stroke are hemorrhagic and non-hemoratic.
Most cases may be treated with blood transfusions, or with artificial cerebral circulation. However, the effects of these treatments may be temporary, and they may have to be changed every few weeks or months because of a stroke recurrence. Non-hemoratic strokes are those that are not life threatening or cause less permanent damage. However, it is not uncommon for these strokes to be fatal, as there is no blood supply to the brain. If a patient develops such a stroke, the doctor will attempt to treat the patient with blood clotting medications, such as warfarin or carbamazepine.
Warfarin works by inhibiting the flow of blood to the brain by inhibiting the body's clotting enzymes. Carbamazepine is used to treat epilepsy, an inflammatory condition that occurs frequently in these cases. Ableism Ableism is one of the most common forms of cognitive impairment. It is defined as the tendency to have a high degree of difficulty with some specific motor tasks. Ableism is generally defined as the lack of difficulty with motor tasks, but it can also refer to the difficulty in performing tasks, as in the case of a person who cannot do complex math. It is a serious problem, and can lead to a decline in one's quality of life. Ableism is common, and the impact upon a person's life is considerable.
